You may have noticed lately that you can see "sparkling water" enlisted on the menus of your favorite restaurant. It may spark a little bit of curiosity for you but since you do not really have a slightest idea of what a sparkling water is, you tend to not think of ordering one and eventually stick to your regular order as usual. But what is really a sparkling water and what makes it different from ordinary water? Here is a little overview of sparkling water.
To start this little overview of sparkling water, let me take you to what it basically is. A sparkling water, or better known as a carbonated water, is just a simple and plain drinking water that has gone through the process of carbonization - or the process wherein carbon dioxide is dissolved in an aqueous solution. Long after its discovery that is done by an English chemist named Jason Priestley in the 18th century, it has been considered as a better alternative to alcoholic cocktails that are high in calorie. It is good when you are going to infuse a slice of lemon or some parts of fruit juice.
There is also another natural way of having sparkling water. It is through the production attributed to the volcanic activity located beneath the crust of the Earth. It is believed to be really healthy and healing for it has a number of minerals present in it. So if you are wondering if it is a good or bad thing, then the answer is: most of the time it is healthy for you. It can reduce bad cholesterol levels as well as the bicarbonate content of the water can help put the the sodium levels within the body into an equilibrium state. Although it might sound really good for everyone, be wary though since dentists would disapprove of drinking too much sparkling water. They say that it can strip the enamel off of your teeth and thus would create serious dental problems.
